Residenzialità in montagna 2024

Tuscany has launched a program that allows new residents to earn as much as €30,000 for buying a property in the mountainous regions with dwindling populations.

Brought into law by an executive decree on June 6th, the region approved the program titled “Residenzialità in Montagna 2024” which translates as Residential in the Mountains 2024.

The Tuscan authorities have set aside €2.8 million to buy and renovate homes in towns with less than 5,000 residents to increase their appeal and encourage new buyers.

Each successful applicant will get a grant between the range of €10,000 and €30,000 to help cover the costs of buying and renovating a home.

Why now?

The aim of the intervention, according to the Tuscan authorities, is to promote and encourage the repopulation and socioeconomic revitalisation of mountain areas, acting in contrast to the marginalisation of these areas. (Translated from Italian, Regione Toscana)

There are currently 76 communes in mountainous Tuscany with less than 5,000 inhabitants that are eligible locations for the programme, however, there are eligibility criteria to be met by applicants too.
