Earlier this month, budget airline, announced it is launching a total of seven new flight routes from London. Among the destinations is Treviso, a northeastern Italian city, known as being the birthplace of tiramisu and Prosecco.
The seven new flight routes will depart from London Gatwick, Luton or Stanstead, bringing the total number of new flights to 162.
Alongside Treviso, other destinations include Vigo in Spain, Tirana in Albania, Basel in Switzerland, Poprad in Slovakia, Belfast in Northern Ireland, and Ouarzazate in Morocco.
This is good news for Londoners or those not far from the English capital which has great transport links, as the flight to Treviso from London Gatwick takes just 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Why Treviso?
Officially known as Venice Treviso (TSF), the airport has been chosen as Ryanair had high demands for a while now. Ryanair chief executive, Michael O’Leary said “we’re seeing very strong demand.”
As suggested by the airport’s official title, Treviso is the closest airport to Venice, which lies just 16 miles south of the city. The full journey from Treviso to Venice takes just 54 minutes on public transport and is a pleasant journey.
The city itself has a lot to offer. For those looking to explore, there are a whopping 614 places available to rent on Airbnb which range from entire flats to a bedroom in a hosted home.
What’s Treviso known for?
Similar to Amsterdam and Venice, Treviso has many canals that meet in a central square, the Piazza dei Signori. There lies the Palazzo dei Trecento, a grand building home to the city’s municipal council.
Other architectural attractions in Treviso include the Duomo’s neoclassical façade, Romanesque crypt and Titian painting.
The town itself was rebuilt and restored after being bombed in the Second World War. The town centre is a maze-like design of narrow streets lined with arcaded walkways and bridges.
Treviso is a wonderful, cultural place to discover. Wandering around, you’ll find a handful of small bars, cafes, and restaurants. It’s an hour from Venice and two hours from Verona, by train.
Home to the famous sparking line, Treviso produces Prosecco di Treviso DOC. It has held DOC (Controlled destination of origin) accreditation since 2009 and Treviso prosecco is a symbol of refined wine drinking.
The city offers prosecco walking tours which run each day in the wine provinces of Veneto.
