While certain parts of Spain can be expensive, property prices remain much more affordable than the UK. Even in some of the most sought-after and pricey areas of the country, such as the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca, reasonably priced homes can be found if you know where to look.

We’ve done the hard work for you, scouring our property portal for 10 great value properties for sale in Spain.

According to the 2020 Property Guides cost of living survey (a new one will be out very soon, by the way), Spain offers a far cheaper cost of living than the UK, with groceries, utilities and leisure activities all costing less.

It’s easy to find affordable Spanish homes if you know where to look

But what about property – where are the cheapest areas of Spain to buy a home? According to Statista, the average property in Spain currently costs around €229,590 (based on a 90 square metre property at €2,551 per square metre).

The most expensive part of Spain for property is Catalonia, where the average home costs around €369,360. The cheapest areas are Extremadura (€110,610) and Murcia (€116,910).

So, how are we defining a “good value property in Spain”? We took the average price of a semi-detached property in England, which was £270,000 (€324,000) at the time of writing, and found 10 stunning properties across Spain, all far below this price and all with something special to offer.
