‘Europe’s most walkable city’
Preply has just named it as ‘Europe’s most walkable city’, it will take you just twenty minutes to walk between the city’s top attractions. The Express has lauded it as ‘ideal for an autumn break’. In case you were curious, the other cities featured on the list include: 2. Venice, 3. Porto, 4. Florence and 5. Athens.
As it is mostly flat, Seville is a bike-friendly city too.
So, if you are hoping to move and/or buy in Spain without a car, Seville will certainly suit you.
Autumn in Seville
In September, Seville experiences highs of 32°C and lows of 18°C and two days of rain. Meanwhile, in October, there are highs of 26°C and lows of 14°C with five days of rain. There’s also up to nine hours of sunshine a day.
Even in winter, there’s the chance to catch some sunshine. With November seeing an average daily maximum of 20 degrees. The coldest month is January which sees highs of just 16 degrees.
The one potential downside of warm autumns is that summers in Seville are hot! July, the hottest month, sees an average daily maximum of 36 degrees.
What’s there to do in Seville?
So, Seville has been rated as Europe’s walkable city, but what are you walking to? The top attractions in Seville include Plaza de España, a spectacular square, featuring buildings in the Spanish Renaissance style. It tops the TripAdvisor list of things to do in Seville. Just next door, you’ll find the Maria Luisa Park, a large and beautiful park, ideal for a picnic. There’s also the UNESCO World Heritage site Real Alcázar, a grand palace showcasing Gothic, Moorish, and Renaissance architectural influences. Equally impressive is Seville Cathedral, another World Heritage site, it is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. Plus, Flamenco was born in Andalusia, and so, Seville is one of the best places to see live shows. There’s also tapas bars to spend your evenings in, with El Rinconcillo, established in the 17th century, offering the most traditional of tastes. Beaches are nearby!
While Seville is not a coastal city, there are beaches nearby. One of the closest beaches to Seville is Matalascañas, it is a little over an hour away by car. Alternatively, there are public transport routes that you can take too. Matalascañas has long stretches of golden sand. It is a favourite beach getaway among locals in Seville.
Additionally, the vibrant city of Cádiz is just an hour away. It has great beaches too.
How do I get there?
Seville has an international airport that has regular flights throughout the year. Flights can be found even more affordably during the cooler seasons. A taxi will get you to the city in just 15 minutes while a bus will take 35 minutes (and is super affordable).
